What is the 8th Pay Commission?
Central Pay Commissions review the pay, allowances and pensions of Central Government employees, usually once a decade. The 8th Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025. Its recommendations, once accepted, would set a new pay matrix. The fitment factor is the multiplier from old basic pay to new basic pay.

| Current basic | 1.60× | 2.00× | 2.50× | 3.00× |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹25,000 | ₹40,000 | ₹50,000 | ₹62,500 | ₹75,000 |
| ₹50,000 | ₹80,000 | ₹1,00,000 | ₹1,25,000 | ₹1,50,000 |
| ₹1,00,000 | ₹1,60,000 | ₹2,00,000 | ₹2,50,000 | ₹3,00,000 |
How the estimate works
